Helloooo, 2018! What a whirlwind ...and great year 2017 was. I am so thankful for the variety of amazing assignments I had the opportunity to photograph.
January is often seen as a time for new beginnings...and engagements! Hence it is also time for weddings shows like the Richmond Wedding Experience and the Richmond Weddings Show. After meeting so many wonderful Richmond couples at last years shows, I thought it would only be appropriate to start 2018 off with a big THANK YOU! to the wonderful RVA couples, companies and families I had the pleasure of working with. Thank you for entrusting me with your weddings, your babies, your top secret and super fun corporate events. It was a pleasure to be your photographer.
A few winters ago, I joined a book club at my son’s preschool. I joined to learn about parenting, but also hoped I could find some playmates for my only child. As a parent, I’ve never felt I had to be BFFs with other moms, but sought out opportunities to expose my son to a variety of children to socialize with. I was taken aback during one of our book club meetings by a woman who commented about "finding one's tribe." I felt alienated by her comment, even though I don't think she meant it to be hateful. Fast forward to today: I get it and I found my tribe. Both personally and professionally and I am so thankful!
2017 was my "come back year," so to speak. I learned or rather was reminded of who my clients are. They are unique, they are so smart and even sometimes a little bit quirky. They are couples who embrace the ugly cry, the belly laugh, and my candid, unobtrusive lens. My brides aren’t afraid to laugh out loud, eat! ...and they tend to put friends and family first. (You can see some of the kind reviews that have been left for me on the Richmond Weddings and Wedding Wire sites.) Not only was I was lucky enough to work with some of the kindest and most fun people, but I was also honored to have my work featured by Richmond Weddings and MunaLuchi Bride. (My apologies if some of my work is slow to reach you, but magazines tend to prefer if they are the first ones to release the images to from these wonderful events.) Between being so busy and waiting for these publications to release my wedding submissions, my social media presence dwindled. I will do my best to change this in 2018.
I am so thankful for the opportunities I have had - to work with clients who appreciate my work as a wedding, portrait and corporate event photographer. With a competitive price and a desire to serve my clients to the best of my ability, I am forging ahead into the New Year, excited to grow my tribe, to capture precious moments and to document the memories that will last a lifetime.
Thank you to all my couples for inspiring me and making me confident in who I am today.
May God, Buddha and whatever other deity is available, bless you.
Have a wonderful 2018!
Your family photographer and friend,
